That Vegas Weekend Renewed Pt 2

At 5:30 am Michaels alarm went off beside his head. It was the beginning of another day. As he sat up and headed for the bathroom he realized that it was Tuesday, two days since Whitney had called. Thoughts of that night in Vegas had been running through his mind since she called.


He took his shower, dressed in his best and headed off to work. Michael walked into his office at the ad agency at 7 am. His boss followed him into his office, not even giving him time to drink his morning coffee.
“We have a new client Michael. I want you on this one personally. It is a local outfit just starting out in the mall.” Larry began to fill him in on the details, but Michaels mind had strayed back to Vegas again. He was only hearing half of what Larry was telling him when something caught his attention.


“Whitney's lithe body works overtime.” Michael turned to Larry with a puzzled look on his face and asked him to repeat what he just said.


“I said, Willy's bath and body works. Overtime might be required on this one. Are you feeling alright Michael?” Larry looked genuinely worried. Michael had been working for him for the last two years and he knew something was not quite right. Michael never missed a beat when it came to new accounts.


Michael said, “Give the account to Schooler. He has been whining about not getting any challenging accounts recently. I think I just need a weekend to get away and clear my head. I will be taking Friday off and the Jacobs ad will be finished on Thursday.”


Larry started to protest, thought better of it and headed for the door. Michael finished his coffee and picked up the phone. He knew her number in an instant, god knows he had thought about calling her a million times. Had even dialed all but the last digit more than once.


“Hi, I am sorry I am not available to take your call but if you leave your name, number and a brief message. I will return your call as soon as possible.” Whitney's voice mail was sweet music to his ears. He did not really want to talk to her directly, he might stumble over his words or the knot in his stomach would cause him to say something stupid.


He heard the beep and left a message that would change both their lives again. “Whitney, its Michael, I called to let you know that I think about Vegas often.... and quite fondly I might add. I would love to see you again as well. Call me back and tell me what you had in mind.” He placed the phone back in its cradle with a sweaty hand and the knot in his stomach subsided.


Whitney had just dropped her son off at school and was heading back to her car when her phone rang. She was just about to answer it when she saw his name come across the caller Id. Her heart was pounding, she wanted to push that talk button so badly, but she was afraid of what he might have to say. Her nerves got the best of her and she let it go to voice mail.


After finishing up her chores at home, Whitney sat down in her living room, cell phone in hand. she put in her password smiling as she listened to his message. She was over joyed at the notion of him wanting to see her again.


She used her number history to call him back. She took a couple deep breaths to calm herself as the phone rang on the other line. Before he could even say hello she said, "Michael, its Whitney, I was hoping you could get away for a little while. I have a friend that has a place in Napa Valley and she offered it to me for this weekend.”
