Ali's Delight

"Well not now you aren't, please sit with us."

Ali glanced at Lindsey, who nodded with a smile.
"I don't want to intrude"

"Nonsense" Paul said again, "We've just sat down ourselves and we'd love the company."

Dining with Paul and Lindsey Pearson proved to be a delight for Ali. The wine was good and loosened her up a bit, but it was also the company. The Pearsons reminded her of she and Harry. Paul was gracious and a good listener. Lindsey (Please, everyone just calls me Lindz") was open intelligent and warm, which made Ali feel like she found a long lost sister. They certainly didn't look like sisters though. Lindsey's hair was very blonde and pulled back into a long braid that went to the middle of her back, and a strong contrast to Ali's own shorter blue black tousle. Lindsey had a reddish complexion that gave an outdoorsy glow, while Ali had soft alabaster skin. Ali knew it was her dark black hair and white skin that turned heads when she walked into a room, but still envied Lindsey's athletic Scandinavian glow.

She told them all about Harry, and the circumstances of his disappearance. This was the first time she talked about it with someone who didn't know him. She told them she was still trying, after more than a year and a half, to come to grips with it, how she constantly searches for his face in a crowd. She told them how she enjoys doing the things Harry introduced her to: skiing, scuba diving and bicycling. She did not tell them about her recently acquired penchant for seducing innocent college boys and teaching them how to pleasure a woman. She also did not tell them that Harry, fifteen years her senior, had similarly introduced her to the joys of hedonism. She did tell them that she has not been able to even think about forming a genuine relationship with anyone else - a truthful realization that was beginning to frighten her somewhat.

The three had a great time laughing and telling tales. The Pearson's had lots of them. Ali at first thought they were younger than her twenty-seven years, but learned that they had just celebrated the tenth anniversary of their first date (they spent the night getting drunk together after being cut from the team). They were very interesting and remarkably comfortable with themselves and each other. "My God, real people", Ali thought. It had been so long since she had a personal conversation with anyone that she had forgotten how thrilling it could be. She was so happy that at one point of the evening her laughter gave way to a short cry. The Pearson's assumed it was about Harry and comforted her. After regaining her composure Ali was again enjoying her new friends so much that she surprisingly began to think that she would like to seduce them both. The thought also occurred that they might be in the process of seducing her and, in spite of the wine and her own lascivious thoughts, was oddly put off by that prospect.

At some point later Ali and the Pearson's noticed that they were the only one's left in the dinning room, and began to feel guilty about holding up the staff. Ali had noticed when the big group near the fireplace had left but almost none of the others.

Paul suggested that it was too early to quit the night and that they move the party up to the hot tub that was on the enclosed deck adjacent to their room. Ali could almost smell the seduction in the air as they rose from the table.
