| And Yet I Wait |
| | ||||||
| ||||||
| Watching the clock on the mantle the minutes become hours, the hours become days sunlight becomes moonlight And yet I wait The fire's spark and fizzle The wood chopped now gone The hearth grows cold And yet I wait No blankets to comfort the cold No rain to match the weariness The sun forever blinding in it's magnificent rays Wanting the world to stop turning And yet I wait And yet I will continue to wait Until the day you are home again The warmth of my life returned The holder of the heat bestowing You've been gone so many a day Fighting another's battle Taking in another's strife Will it ever end? Will it never end? And yet I wait Till the flags have all flown My heart praying not to be the one that breaks Praying that the warmth will once again find me And yet I wait... | ||||||
