Friendship's Gift

Upon a bench, I sat one day,

Waiting for something,

I knew not what.

Watching a dragonfly flit and play,

I passed the time--

The sun grew hot.


And then, my day began to shift,

My body sensing

Something strange.

A friend was sent, a brand new gift,

And I accepted

Impending change.


Excitement loomed ahead of me,

I did not know

What I’d receive.

A special treasure, from by the sea,

Even better --

To good to believe.


A sweet, warm man to share my time,

To snuggle close

And light my day.

To reach high heights, without a climb,

And share myself,

In every way.
