| “It’s okay Jo. I suppose it must look funny.” Phil said. Jo suddenly remembered the notice on her back and reached behind to try and unpin it. Phil saw the notice too and she felt guilty. “It’s okay with me,” he said. “Leave it on.” She could see the change in him. He seemed more mature and he had obviously come to terms with the end of their relationship. Perhaps he had moved on too and was in another relationship. It was when he stood up and said that he was going to sit on his own and have a meal that she felt tears coming again. “Have a good night and enjoy yourself,” he told her as he kissed gently on the cheek and walked away. A short while later she followed the girls out to their taxi, and then stopped before getting in. “I’ll catch up with you later,” she suddenly told them as she headed back in. Phil was surprised to see her standing there in front of his table. “Mind if I join you?” “Mind?” he said as he stood up and pulled a chair out for her. “No, you are always welcome. I thought you were going clubbing?” Jo shook her head. “I was supposed to be but you know me…never did like clubs.” Phil poured her a glass of wine “So how have you been keeping?” she asked him. Moments later they were chatting like old friends. He had told her that he was not in a relationship at the moment; in fact he hadn’t been in one since they separated. Jo felt guilty. She had had a period of promiscuity, brief as it was, but nevertheless she had slept around. She found herself apologising to him. “There’s no need. You’re a free woman and it’s none of my business anyway.” He told her. “I’m sorry things turned out this way.” She told him. He shrugged his shoulders. “It’s me who should be apologizing. It was all down to me.” “Perhaps I was in someway to blame?” she said. He shook his head “It was down to me and me alone,” he told her. “Anyway, what does it matter now? The past is the past no point in raking over it anymore.” Jo nodded “Yes you’re right. Time to move on.” “So what are your plans for the rest of the evening?” he asked her Jo smiled. “Well……no,” she said shaking her head. “Go on….” He said. “I had vowed not to be sleeping in my own bed tonight.” She found herself telling him. He smiled. “Well you could always catch your mates up in the nightclub…don’t think you will have any problem in fulfilling that vow. And there again you could always…….!” He said gazing into her eyes. “You mean you?” she responded. “Was I that bad?” “No……no……..you were always very good actually,” she said. “I don’t think it would be a good idea that’s all.” “Why?” he asked her. “We might end up getting emotionally hurt.” “You mean I might.” he said. She nodded. “I am over it now Jo. Yes, I still have feelings for you but I know we could never go back to what we had before.” She said nothing.

| This is brilliant! From the start, I was expecting another 'divorcee goes out and celebrates by fucking everyone in the bar' scenario, or something like that. This was absolutely fantastic. There's nothing better than post-relationship, 'back to the old us' sex that comes in these situations. I LOVED this story. well done.
