| Off in the distance she could see the ocean… The cemetery sat on a hill overlooking the beach. As she walked she enjoyed the sound of silence; the full moon ensured there were no waves crashing against the beach that night, she loved it. She walked clutching her bag of goodies in anticipation of the dreams she would have that last night. The memory of it all drove Tony crazy. He was trapped. He couldn’t leave knowing she was alone and he couldn’t continue to hold her hostage, she couldn’t spend her life going to an empty cemetery to visit a grave where only his empty shell lay rotting. He went back to the day when he died. He and Sandra had been married for 7 years, not enough time for him. Five years ago, a week before Halloween he’d gone out and bought out almost all the Halloween decorations from the local party store. He knew Sandra loved Halloween and he was going to make an amazing haunted maze in the back yard just for her. He found out a couple of months before that he had heart disease but hadn’t told Sandra yet, she would be crushed. When he started building the maze he had a heart attack. He always felt he was making a mistake with his decision not to have children, and as he slumped over in the maze he thought about how Sandra would be alone and would have nothing to remember him by. It took all afternoon for someone to find his body; it was deep in the maze of hay. He saw the light and his grandparents were waiting but he couldn’t go, he felt he owed it to his wife to stay behind and make sure she was okay. He opened his eyes and saw Sandra standing in line at the Farmers Market. She looked happy. Unfortunately, that feeling wouldn’t last. Tony watched her as she paid for her items, oblivious to all the longing looks she received from countless men. Tony envied these guys; even though he knew they’d never have a chance, they could actually smell her as she walked by them. He noticed one guy though, just sitting there watching her, not salivating like the other dogs. This guy just sat there and took her in. Tony snuck in and took a ride. What happened after that was purely coincidence. <p align="center">* Miguel Robles worked as a Night Watchman at Point Pleasant Cemetery. He’d seen Sandra at the Farmers Market several times but she never gave him the time of day. Now he saw her all the time when she came to mourn her loving husband. The first time he met her personally he noticed she hadn’t left with the other visitors so he went looking for her. He felt anxious and needed to find her, maybe he thought she would hurt herself, he didn’t know. The anxiety was so great that when he found her hiding behind a tree he ran to her and hugged her almost knocking her over. Sandra was surprised that he knew to look for her. She didn’t know that he watched her with a stalkers passion from the time that she arrived to the time she left. Miguel looked forward to every interaction from short nods to meaningless goodbye’s that meant the world to him. “Are you crazy,” he’d asked her, “You can’t stay here over night. It’s against the law.”

| Sofi, this is clearly a very fine idea worked out with real sensitivity. It was well worth the time to read it. It must have taken a really powerful moment of imagination to compose. As R.E.M. says "Everybody hurts. Sometime." Thank you for writing it.
