| Malena begrudgingly walked towards the palace. Her life had been turned upside down in less than a day. Her father had finally grown a spine and thrown out her emasculating mother. Not to mention the Prince and his proclamation about all eligible maidens reporting to the palace for a “Taste Testing Ceremony”. She didn’t know why she would be summoned especially when her parents had kept her from going to “Charm School” in an effort to keep her from getting married. Malena’s parents knew “Charm School” wasn’t more than a school to teach girls the art of seduction… an art that could go a long way when you were born in Andalucía since three quarters of the population had managed to be women for the past century, the locals called it the Virgin of Andalucía Curse… everybody knows that turning your maidens into floosies broke those curses… right? Malena thought of her situation and the more she thought about it the more she realized that her father didn’t have much to do with all the crap that had happened in her life. That bitch of a mother she’d been stuck with was to blame and Malena would happy if she didn’t have to see her again as long as she lived. She didn’t care about the Prince she loved the Royal Messenger Mauro. He made her heart race every time she saw him, having him deliver the order for her to report to the palace where she would be violated by the Prince was the worst thing that could have ever happened to her. She continued walking fueled only by the fact that she would soon see her best friend Carmen and they could talk about how unfair Malena being summoned was. Carmen walked out of her house, her parents stood at the door watching as she walked away. They had drastically different expressions on their faces. Her father was sobbing into his hands but her mother had a sinister grin, one Carmen only saw when her mother had been out all night. “My lord, I never thought this would happen to me.” Carmen said running her hands through her long blonde hair as she looked towards the palace in disbelief. “I know my parents purposely kept me from “Charm School” so I would never get married and when the Prince didn’t have enough maidens to choose from, he summoned me anyway. The fates must have it in for me. All these years I thought my father hated me and did everything to sabotage my life but I found out yesterday that it was actually my mother.” Malena looked so wounded, all Carmen could do was hold her friends hand. They walked on to the palace in silence meeting the other girls along the way. By the time they reached the palace eight women were walking hand in hand, they all knew this would probably be the last time they could see each other as friends. A few of the girls were actually looking forward to meeting Prince Sebastian and marrying him. It was a fairytale ending to any peasant’s girl’s meager existence. When the girls walked into the palace they were all ushered to separate quarters. Malena held on to Carmen as long as she could before a guard ripped her from her grasp. That would be the last time the two friends would see each other the same again. [i]“You’re coming this way,” the guard said.

| A delightfully wonderful, sensual story with a sweet ending. I loved the lead-up and the tension. You wrote your story smoothly and with flair. I could easily imagine each scene as it unfolded in my mind. Excellent job.

| Sofi, this was one of your best stories yet. I was totally glued to it form the word "Andalucia" to the expression of love at the end. You really held me in your grip as you shifted the scene and changed the mood over and over. It was never predictable so it unfolded with power, and, passion! Having family in Andalucia, I thought I knew the stories but you taught me some new things here. It was a really great story and I am very happy you wrote it. It had a Spanish flare I thoroughly enjoyed! D
