| Jamie stopped and looked at him. She curiously found her eyes wandering. First, they traced the outlines of his chest and shoulders, then traveled to his waist. His t-shirt seemed tight on him and Jamie couldn’t help but admire his physical form, despite her anger over his challenge. Jamie sighed and turned away unsure why she was giving in, “Fine, but if it is to strong, it comes out of your pay.” Kyle smiled “Fair enough.” They continued their work in silence. Jamie heard Kyle hum ever once in awhile. She secretly watched his rhythm and movement, her mind wandering to dirty thoughts that surprised her. She tried to focus on work as much as possible. The timer buzzed and pulled her out of her reverie. She glanced up and noticed that it was 8:30. Kyle pulled his Lemon Meringue out and set it before her. He proffered her a fork. “Here, try it.” She took the fork and scoped into the beautifully shaped pie. The pie and meringue touched her tongue, setting off a dozen sensations. Despite being a small addition, Kyle’s increase had made a substantial difference. She was a little perturbed that she hadn’t had the guts to try and make the recipe change herself. She was pleasantly surprised. “What do you think?” he asked. “Delicious,” she said with a smile, “Sorry for doubting your judgment. It’s not often I get someone in the kitchen with me that has much skill at cooking.” Kyle smiled and put the pie in the pie cooler. He moved back around and started on his next item, “I love to cook. In the Army, everybody always called me Cook, because I’d always cook for everyone in the barracks.” The sound of her stomach growling echoed in the empty kitchen. They both laughed. “Hungry, huh? Why not grab a bite to eat?” he said. “Are you kidding,” Jamie said with a unique expression, “I have an aversion to eating here. It’s like a disorder, I guess but I can’t eat the food that I make here.” Kyle looked at her incredulously, “That’s kind of odd. Is it because it’s dirty?” Jamie shook her head, “I just have this thing about eating anything from a public kitchen.” “So I guess you don’t eat out much, do you?” Jamie shook her head and smiled at Kyle. He returned the smile. Jamie tried to size him up, guess some things about him. He seemed close to twenty four or twenty five. That would put him at least five years younger than her. Jamie was thirty, having just turned thirty a month ago. He seemed so much different than the other men she had been with in her life. He seemed composed of something different. Again, those unbidden and dirty thoughts came to her head. The thoughts coupled with her empty stomach, made her nearly gasp at what her mind had hinted at doing. “How old are you, Kyle?” she asked, trying to focus on something. “Just turned Twenty Three,” was his reply.
