| Inspired Author | This is Cocoa and I bet some of you are wondering what happened. So am I. I have often wondered what people felt or remembered in an accident like that… and now I know. Nothing … I remember NOTHING. One instant I was following another car through an intersection and saw bright lights off to my right. The next instant I awoke with a humongous headache, blurred vision, casts on both arms, staples and bandages on my chest and forehead, an IV in my arm, and oxygen being fed through my nose. My first thought was “WHAT THE HELL IS THIS?!” Then I was able to see my beautiful wife and daughter sitting close. After several kisses and light hugs, I asked them what had happened. They looked at each other, grinned, and in unison said, “Maybe now you‘d like to rethink what you gave us for Christmas.” Just what I needed at that moment in my life, a couple of out of work comedians. After some medication for my headache, they explained the police version of what had happened. I was T-boned by a drunk who tested three times the legal limit, which would be .24 or 2.4 or whatever. I am never sure where the decimal goes. He is in serious trouble, third DUI, second accident causing injury, suspended license, etc. but somehow escaped with a few cuts and bruises. I was told I was never in SERIOUS danger to my life thanks to my seat belt, and air bags, but had someone been riding with me on the passenger side it might have been fatal, a sobering thought. One final thought, it took about two days for me to fully realize I was not in the middle of some dream. I think partly because of the medication, but a lot had to do with the suddenness of what happened, going from peacefully driving my car to an awakening somewhere else. Thanks to all of you for your nice thoughts and expressions. It will be awhile before I am able to write quickly again (it has taken me two days, between naps, to write this) and perhaps longer before I want to write stories again. In the meantime I may occasionally visit the chat room, silently, to see what is going on. Love to all - Cocoa

I know the wife will make sure you get everything you need and I bet you find your world will be, shall we say, more peaceful as you heal, just don't get to comfy with it though. Again let us know if you need any words of encouragement, as if we will not provide a healthy dose, and we will keep you in our thoughts and prayers. (Bet you didn't know you were getting a whole new family when you arrived here did you?) MS will keep a fresh stock of milk and cookies for you here awaiting your full return.
