Default greedyandneedy - September 2007

Mindspired welcomes Greedyandneedy to the spotlight corner! It is an honor for us to have such a talented individual here with us. Your work has been a true inspiration to us all. It's nice to see a man show so much soul in his writing!
Read on and get to know Greedy.... more!

Lily - Would you like to share any personal information with the readers?

G&N - Well…. I’m 27 years young, live in the London area and love life.
I play the drums and run my own business.

I have frequently been described as abundantly, or even alarmingly happy.

Lily - Wow... you sound like the type of person I would love to meet! Happy people sure are a joy to be around.

If you are married or have a significant other, does she acknowledge and support your erotic writing?

G&N - Wow… appropriate question. I’m getting married in one months time. I met my fiancée nearly five years ago. She knows I love to write. She knows that I’d like to be a published author, but I don’t share my erotica with her… Yes, yes … I can hear you all silently judging and wondering why… the story is long, and I won’t try to tell it, but it is my personal indulgence. I think if you read on, you may begin to understand my point of view.

Lily -What do you think her response would be if you were to share your secret passion?

G&N - I think she’d be totally ok with it… in principle. Although, I have written so much now that the secret has become too big to reveal. I officially lead a double life.

Lily - What inspired you to write your first story?

G&N - I have always LOVED stories. I was passionate reader as a child, and wrote many stories. They were always fantastic… in the literal sense. Unbelievable, strong heroes, beautiful countries, happy endings. I don’t claim they were any good, but they got a good response.

I thought for years that I wanted to be a journalist. But, my teens beat a lot of the creativity out of me. More interested in smoking and girls, I put the paper down, until my father died. I was 15, and I decided that the story should be written. He was fascinating; his life, his story, his illness, and his death. It was incredibly theraputic, but I finished it, read it and burned it.

So erotica… puzzling story. I met my fiancée while working in Belgium. We spent two months together. I knew that this was it. I had found the girl of my dreams. But, I had to go back to Oxford, she was in university in France. We had a long distance relationship, during which we wrote. No internet, few phone calls, just amazing, long letters. Growing from 5 to 10, then 20 even 30 pages. After close to a year, we knew each other better than many couples do after years. And of course, we talked about sex. Our sexual chemistry had been immediate and incredible. In our short time together we had explored a lot, and the rest, we did in writing. It was really amazing. Odd, but amazing.

So, this was the beginning of it. My first bits of erotic writing were for our letters. Then, that year ended, and we were together again. Some time after, I had another chance encounter whilst wasting time that I should have been spending on my undergraduate dissertation.

The say the devil finds work for idle hands and, quite undeliberately, I found a story on line (all I did was type ‘erotic stories’ into a search engine… how is that my fault?). I thought it so well written, so much better than I’d imagined erotic literature to be, and knew straight away that I had stories of my own to share.

Lily - What was the first erotic piece your mind produced?

G&N - It was ‘a session at the gym’ a story that is now posted on this site (although, admittedly, it’s seen one or two alterations). It was a very honest and simple description of a fantasy. Enjoying frequent gym sessions as a student, and a genuine taste for European women.

Lily - How did you feel after reading the comments on your first story?

G&N - Well… anyone who says that they really don’t care what other people think of their work is either a far stronger person than me, or a liar. I was thrilled with the response. It wasn’t a standing ovation, but a respectful ripple of gentle applause which I felt more than slightly proud of. It’s a strange phenomena, on-line appreciation. Unlike the launching of empty beer glasses, or the thunderous cheers and cries of ‘MORE’ that have both been known to follow our concerts, through text only it’s difficult to judge sincerity. But, I felt confident that I’d caught a few people’s imagination. I also knew that I could do better.

Lily - What continues to inspire you to entertain us?

G&N - The changing course of my life has lead my stories in so many different directions. From the stranger stories at the beginning, to the wild group sex and sex party stories of graduation, to the reflective coming of age stories of earlier adult life. Transition and personal evolution bring something else to tell. I’m sure that my coming wedding, and the ensuing marriage will bring a great many new tales to tell, a number of further fantasies to recount. I like to keep my stories personal, in someway trying to draw on my own life phases, or experiences. So, I think I’ll just do my best to keep having experiences… in both quantity and quality. All for my readers, of course.

Lily - Do you cyber and if so, do you feel that it helps inspire your mind?

G&N - Very rarely now. I used to. I’m not sure how I feel about it. I’ve had absolutely earth shattering cyber experiences (you’ll know who you are), and I’ve had many that were frankly disappointing ones (unfortunately, you probably won’t know who you are!). There are a few ladies that I frequently correspond with. It varies from cybering to just chatting, and I like to keep these relatively platonic, although they always have an undeniably sexy theme. It varies from person to person too.

Long story short; I guess I do cyber, just not that much.

Lily - Do you have a current partner in the cyber world or are you open to mingle with the ladies that crave to see more than just your brain?

G&N -You mean like a steady, on-line girlfriend? That’d seem really weird to me. No, everyone I know on-line is a friend. No one owes anyone anything on-line.

Lily - What are you working on for your readers now and when can we expect to be inspired by it ?

G&N - I have a number of stories. I’m actually working on one project to be submitted to publishers, but that won’t be ready for a very long time.

I have several stories that I’ve started and scrapped about 4 times. I’m moving to a different style at the moment, feeling slightly more biographical and philosophical in my writing. I’ll never leave erotica behind, but I think my next story will be more of a story of love and spiritual closeness then the simply stroking and union of body parts.

I’m also writing a lot for my business at the moment. I think businesses and brands can learn a lot more about using creative writing to get closer to their clients, but that’s another story and another world.

Lily - Do you have any words to offer to your loyal fans?

G&N - Enjoy what you’re doing and if you can’t, do something else.

Lily - Do you have any words of wisdom for fellow writers?

G&N - That would be pretty pretentios really. There are much better people to get advice from than me. My only bit of advice… when using a laptop always keep a spare battery.

Lily - Is there anything else you would like to share with us?

G&N - Dinner. A nice chateauneuf du Pape.

It’d be my dream to write for ‘Times business section’ or ‘The Economist’ or something really dull like that. I know, that must seem so out of synch with the Greedyandneedy that I show on the site, but that’s the real me. I honestly think that the most fascinating, gripping things can be read and written about the real world, and people, and the way we are and the things we REALLY do. I’ve always felt so sorry for people who have to plunge themselves into fantasy, other worlds and middle-earth-type-make-believe to find adventure, beauty and greatness.

I live among it every day.

I am planning on getting my first tattoo soon. At present it’s going to say…

‘If you should write a fable for little fishes, you would make them speak like great whales’

Lily - Thank you so much for spending time with me, has been a great pleasure getting to know you. I know the readers will enjoy you as well! We look forward to your next story and good luck with the wedding!
