| Vintage Author | My question relates to writing as well as reading and I was just wondering what perspective people enjoy using and reading the most. First person - "I met Amy in the fruit and veg section of my local supermarket. She had a fabulous pair of melons." Second person - "Your heart skipped a beat when he finally spoke, enquiring sheepishly if he might have a squeeze of your melons." Third person - "Amy and Gordon first met in the fresh produce section. He made some ridiculous comment about her impressive melons and she had simply replied that they were nothing compared to her tits." I have used all three in the past and tend to enjoy first and third person the most. I tend to agree with the general opinion that second person is a little clumsy, but in erotica it does work better than some other genres as we are hoping to stimulate the reader's body as well as their mind. I touched upon the subject of writing from the opposite sex's point of view in another post and in a way, I wonder if it is easier to depersonalise the story a little if we write in the third person. I suppose if I had to pick my favourite I would go with first person as it can be fun reading and writing a story as a kind of confessional. Just some thoughts JP x

| Administrator | Oh, first person definitely works best for me. I like to imagine myself in the scene, sometimes even moan as I'm writing! Also, I don't care to name my people either. I think it's a separation from my mind, to keep me from thinking about someone directly. So, my no name man comes to 'me' on many occassions as 'I' massage every inch of his body! Yum! Now, I have read literature written in all forms and I think it's wonderful to see a writer venture out and explore new territory, try new things with their style. I, have not written from the other genders point of view but I think since I've written some articles in the Lesbian category, it should be fairly simple. For a man - no so simple - but as always - you do a FABULOUS job at everything you attempt JP. It's nice to see we have a variety of styles here at Mindspired! After all, variety is the spice of life!

| Vintage Author | I tried first person, opposite sex and it was a dismal failure, more than most of my stuff. I think I enjoy reading very well written second person, but well written seems somewhat rare. I'd opt for third person for writing and reading. I find it can be difficult to seperate personal emotions from writing in the first person sometimes. Which can lead to a flat character. Holy smokes!! What w exactly does that say?

| Inspired Author | I only seem to be really comfortable with third person if I'm writing fiction. Unless I personally am in the story. I get the biggest thrill trying to imagine things from the womans point of view and tring to express that in 1st person would be just TOO difficult I think. For me, the whole writing process is incredibly hard. I imagine it gets easier with practice but my biggest problem is that my imagination gets WAY ahead of my typing...lol

| Inspired Author | Personally I prefer reading a story written in the first person, i think it draws you into the story more, any inane attempts that i had at writing have all been written in the first person. maj Xx
