| Vintage Author | Often times I get "stuck" on a story.... meaning that I get to a point where I have lost direction or focus for the story and don't know how to get out of the canyon I have boxed myself into. It can also be that I just simply exhaust any ideas on how to proceed with the story. Any suggestions on how to resolve these issues aside from abandoning the story and starting all over?

| Administrator | We've all been here! Depending on how long the block has gone on - I may just set it aside and work on something else. If you force the story, it usually doesn't flow as you'd like either. Sometimes I do a bit of research of my own just to clear my mind. I enjoy talking to people about sex (not cybering) just to see what points of view they may have on the subject. Hopefully something will get your creative ability back to work. Other times I'll start on something else - and it will just come to me so I can finally finish it. I once worked on a story for 3 months. But..... I wrote 4 others in the meantime. Good luck Lushi!

| Vintage Author | Lily has some very good points and by the stories she writes who can argue with her logic. Lushi is it because you are trying to edit the story as you go along? Are you allowing all of your thoughts to flow before worrying about how it is placed. Let your creative juices flow then edit it and place the different thoughts and scenes in the order you want. When you havve completed it then our juices will flow. *smile*

| Vintage Author | san has some good suggestions on how to approach the "let it flow" method, which is what I do for the most part. But I also have to have a destination in mind. Without that the flow never happens, regardless of sequence of thoughts. A good friend of mine who is a published writer says that she shifts to a different medium. For example, if the story is started on the computer and gets stuck, she shifts to a tablet and pencil to change the atmosphere and she NEVER calls it writer's block. Makes it feel like the kiss of death to her. But I think Lily's suggestions work well; just let it alone and gestate. If it's going to be viable that is what generally works for me. And, CB, I have so many false starts, think I'm going to have to save them to a DVD there are just that many of the damned things. lol ....... actually they aren't all erotica, variety of other things as well. Just hope they haven't died in the borning. One of the things that has me the most stumped right now is something that a friend said to me about the Gold-Lipped Valentine. He said it had less of "me" in it than any other story I've written. ....... Intriguing since it is one of those that just flowed. ....... So I am trying to put more of "me" into the next one. I think that may be constipating my tiny brain. 8-) Anyone else have any suggestions here?
